On June 3, 2025, the Baltimore Unity Hall was transformed into a vibrant, intergenerational hub of celebration, connection, and creativity as over 250 Baltimoreans gathered for The Community Exhibition, the culminating event of BCYF’s the learning lab. This joyful gathering honored the journey of more than 1,000 participants—grassroots leaders, youth development professionals, and community partners—who dedicated six months to shared learning and capacity building.
Celebrating Community Brilliance
The Community Exhibition was a living expression of BCYF’s mission to invest in Black- and Brown-led, community-rooted organizations and reimagine what youth development can look like in Baltimore. Participants engaged in a dynamic science fair-style gallery walk featuring immersive exhibits, nonprofit showcases, and storytelling stations.
One standout moment was the launch of #bcreds, BCYF’s new digital learning platform. Designed with accessibility and retention in mind, #bcreds delivers skills-based training for nonprofit leaders on topics like financial management, program design, and strategic planning. The first course, Making $ense: Reading Financial Statements for Nonprofits, is now live and freely available to all Baltimore youth-serving practitioners.

Attendees—including Mayor Brandon Scott—reflected on the transformative power of the learning lab and the organizations it uplifted:

This community-centered atmosphere created fertile ground for authentic dialogue and collaboration. According to post-event surveys:
- 91% of attendees made at least one new connection
- 89% felt the Gallery Walk encouraged meaningful conversation
- 80% deepened their understanding of the learning lab’s impact
- 100% rated their experience as Excellent (65%) or Good (35%)
Building a Future Rooted in Equity and Joy
The Community Exhibition was a forward-facing commitment. Staff feedback emphasized a strong alignment with BCYF’s values of equity, transparency, and intergenerational leadership. Colleagues highlighted the sense of shared purpose, strong teamwork, and the embodiment of Ubuntu in action.
Looking Ahead
The Community Exhibition 2025 served as a powerful reminder of what’s possible when Baltimore invests in community wisdom, intergenerational brilliance, and relational infrastructure. It showcased not only what can be achieved when we build together.
