This professional learning initiative offers short, competency-based modules that recognize mastery in specific skill areas, helping organizations thrive and better serve their communities.
The first pilot course, “Making $ense: Reading Financial Statements for Nonprofits,” empowers organization leaders with tools to decipher financial reports so they can make solid decisions for their work.

What is the #bcreds Board Challenge?
The Baltimore Children & Youth Fund Board of Directors invites youth-serving nonprofit boards across Baltimore to model equity-driven governance by completing the Making $ense: Reading Financial Statements for Nonprofits course via #bcreds—together, as a team.
Boards that achieve 100% completion demonstrate a commitment to financial transparency, shared responsibility, and sustainability for the communities we serve.
Why It Matters
Financial leadership is an equity issue. When boards understand the numbers, they can make decisions that protect youth-serving organizations and strengthen our entire ecosystem.

How It Works
1️⃣ Register for the Making $ense course & list your organization name to be added to the challenge
2️⃣ Have every board member complete the Making $ense course from #bcreds
3️⃣ Appoint ONE person to submit all completion certificates by February 13, 2026, 5 PM ET

Important Dates
- Challenge Deadline: February 13, 2026, 5 PM ET
Eligibility
- Youth-serving 501(c)(3) nonprofits (ages 0–24) based in Baltimore
- Projects with recognized 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsors based in Baltimore
- Minimum 5 board members (or approved staff/fiscal sponsor roles if fewer) complete the challenge
Required Documentation for the Raffle Winner:
To confirm participation and prize eligibility, the winning organization will be required to submit:
- A list of all current board members’ names and emails
- Course completion certificates for every board participant
- IRS Determination Letter (or fiscal sponsor documentation if applicable)
- Fiscal Sponsorship Agreement (if applicable)
- Website and Social Media details
