Program Name: Wide Angle Youth Media: Program Pathways Operating Funds
Award Amount: $182,815
Project Description: Wide Angle leverages its institutional resources to prioritize equity, strengthen authentic community engagement, and address the holistic needs of youth, so that participants can overcome systemic challenges embedded in historic racism and classism that frequently prevent their success. Youth are engaged as participants, artists, change-makers, and civic leaders. Short-term community engagement workshops, semester- and academic-year long programs, summer intensive trainings and advanced paid workforce development opportunities equip young people with technical and soft skills required to thrive in their college and career pathways.
The Program will also provide free media education to more than 400 youth and young adults ages 10-24 to cultivate and amplify the voices of Baltimore youth, inspiring creativity and instilling confidence in young people, empowering them with skills to navigate school, career, and life. 214 youth will participate in short-term engagement programs, 90-youth will participate in middle school programs, 24 youth will participate in high school programs and 45 youth will participate in summer YouthWorks (MediaWorks).
