Project Description: Child First Authority (CFA) will provide an afterschool program four days per week, three hours per day for 120 middle schoolers at five middle schools – Barclay, Calvin Rodwell, City Springs, Guilford, and Lillie May Carroll Jackson. This includes an hour of academic enrichment, an hour of cultural enrichment, active recreation, four field trips, snack and supper.
Child First employs certified teachers from the schools to provide instruction during the academic hour which allows for coordination between school day instruction and after school supports. Every program has practicing artists teaching skills in drama, painting, photography, audio and sound production, ceramics, and African drumming. Other skill-based activities include, culinary arts, sign language, step, and choir. Students have access to sports and recreation enrichment including karate, flag-football, basketball, and track and field.
