Project Description: The grant will allow the organization to properly fund facility staffing, implement and expand recreational, educational and nutritional programming for Easterwood Recreation Center, managed and operated by Omega Baltimore Foundation, Inc.
Omega Baltimore received its first lease from Baltimore City Board of Estimates in 2011, opened in 2012, and has operated the Easterwood Recreation Center for the past five years with limited funding, operating with only staff volunteerism. The Recreation center was closed for four years prior to reopening by Omega Baltimore. Since re-opening, Easterwood OST (Out of School Time) Nutrition Program feeds 30-40 youth snacks and supper daily; has a 15-unit computer lab; and the entire facility has Free WIFI for community usage. The STEM and Computer Camp Program served and taught a daily average of 38 students, grades 2-5, STEM and computer skills in 2015-16.
The Program will include sports camps and leagues and computer programming for 30-40 youth.
