Fight Blight Bmore

Fight Blight Bmore

Program Name: The HACK HUB

Award Amount: $16,000

Program Description: FBB is a social, economic and environmental justice initiative informed by data and led by the village to rid communities of blight and stop the bleeding. FBB’s subsequent investigation of blight in Baltimore has found that there is a lack of space available for Black people, particularly youth, to experience technology and create process, products or services that serve the needs of people or from which to incubate ideas into businesses.

To addresses this need FBB is launching the HACK HUB, a youth-centered idea curation and startup space for youth and young adults ages 14-24. The space will provide access to training on how take a bright idea and turn it into a prototype, on how to start a business as well as provide access to Wi-Fi, 3D printers, programmable robots and the creative collisions that occur when innovators work in close quarters.
