Project Description: DewMore Baltimore is a community-based nonprofit dedicated to using art and community organizing as tools to increase community engagement in the greater Baltimore Community. DewMore exists to eliminate apathy in marginalized communities. The organization is supported and led by community members, educators, artists, and residents who believe in the power of community, as well as, the importance of youth voice, leadership, and empowerment. The Program will provide quality access to art coupled with personal development in the form of social justice poetry clubs with a focus on increasing emotional, cognitive, and social development in order to increase school attendance and academic achievement. Also, two days of programming/poetry workshops will take place where students will discuss, write, and edit their work. This program will serve at least 15 students per school.
Dew More Baltimore targets historically marginalized communities citywide. Currently the program has offers services to youth 12-21 in the Park Heights, Greater Rosemont and Mondawmin Communities which includes Douglas High School, ConneXions High School, Carver High School, Forest Park High School and several community centers. Dew More also provides specialized programming to group homes, prisons, and detention centers across the Greater Baltimore Area.
