Program Name: Beadly Speaking Jewelry Program
Award Amount: $9,000
Project Description: The Beadly Speaking Jewelry Making Program will address issues facing our community from a unique perspective. There will be a topic or question that will be related to the jewelry-making activity of the day. It will be a safe space for participants to share. It will be dedicated to self-discovery, self-expression, and healing work. In order to provide the attention needed to each person, there will be a maximum of eight students per session. The program will meet for one hour per session, two times per week, and for seven weeks at a time. It will restart after seven weeks. Participants will learn basic jewelry-making techniques in order to complete each project. They will make earrings, bracelets, and necklaces using materials such as beads, duct tape, ribbon, string, and wire.
