Project Description: Banner Neighborhood Community Corporation (Banner), in partnership with Friends of Patterson Park (FoPP) and the Southeast Community Development Corporation (SECDC), will increase access to sports, employment development and enrichment activities for young people living in the Ellwood Park and Madison-Eastend communities. The programs will benefit children and youth from first grade through high school and beyond. The Southeast Community Youth Recreational Sports League will oversee expansion of the existing basketball program to include two additional sites. They also will introduce youth to soccer and track through sports clinics, practices, intramural play and competitions. Programs will be offered at Bocek Park and Ellwood Park, as well as an indoor site located across the street from Bocek Park. They hope to involve 400 children and youth. Employment development will include the partners. They will expand participation in YouthWorks, increasing engagement from 90 to 100 youth. In addition, all three partners will offer internships to at least one intern for the entire 2019 school year.
