Program Name: Baltimore Youth Arts Studio Apprentice Program

Award Amount: $219,000

Project Description: Baltimore Youth Arts is an arts education and job readiness program that provides opportunities to youth, ages 14-22, with a focus on those who have contact with the justice system. Their mission is to assist young people in gaining the creative, personal, and educational skills that will enable them to become leaders in their communities.

To improve social-emotional growth and reduce recidivism, BYA focuses on three areas: 1.) Exposure and access to art making and entrepreneurship, 2.) Fostering supportive, mentoring relationships, and 3.) Building community bridges.

Annually, 200 youth receive transitional services and/or art-based diversion activities and 40 youth are employed by the Studio Apprentice Program.
