After a months-long process that included community design and capacity building sessions, and a formal proposal review process, Associated Black Charities (ABC) today announced grantees for the historic Baltimore Children and Youth Fund.
The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, "Riots are the cry of the unheard." If that maxim is true, Baltimore children, youth, and young adults were crying out long before the 2015 killing of Freddie Gray, Jr. sparked demonstrations and unrest in the city.
The fund, proposed by Baltimore City Council President Bernard C. “Jack” Young after the unrest of 2015, and approved by voters the following year, will provide taxpayer dollars to organizations that work with the city’s young people.
